Conservation Conditions

If properly stored, our chocolate will keep for a very long time. Because our products are offered in great quantities, suitable storage is instrumental in optimizing shelf life.

Keep your chocolate in an open-space, temperature-controlled environment.

Ideal storage is between 18 ° C and 22 ° C (64 ° F and 72 ° F) at less than 65% relative humidity.

Shelf Life

The date of manufacture and expiration (12 to 24 months) is available on the packaging of each product.

  • Dark chocolate: 24 months from the date of manufacture
  • Milk chocolate: 18 months from the date of manufacture
  • White chocolate: 12 months from the date of manufacture

Packaging

The original packaging of our chocolates conforms to the standards of Belgium’s Ministry of Health. We store and ship our products in our manufacturers’ original packaging. We also make certain packaging adjustments according to various factors: outside temperature, shipping destination, size of goods, shipping methods, and requested products.

Storage

Chocolat Central’s packaging is suitable for long-term storage. A clean storage area is essential in keeping your chocolate from becoming contaminated. Store your chocolate in a cool, dry place away from heat and light. Although chocolate is resistant to temperature fluctuations, reactions may still occur, such as the appearance of a white coating (fat bloom) on the chocolate’s surface. Direct exposure to sunlight or other light sources can also affect taste, as does the exposure to foreign odors.

Keep in mind that water is chocolate’s number one enemy.

Handling

The ambient conditions of the room in which the chocolate is handled must be optimal in order to obtain proper results. As with storage conditions, the use of a cool and dry area is necessary. All utensils and instruments that come into contact with the chocolate must be dust/water-free.

Belcolade Products Are Guaranteed Nut-Free

Although Belcolade manufactures hazelnut and almond products, the production of nut-based fillings and the manufacture of chocolate are completely separate operations carried out in the facilities of Patisfrance, which specializes in the processing of dried fruits. Each department has its own staff and equipment, and there is no overlap between them. All measures are taken to avoid contamination from one production sector to another. In addition, we also guarantee that Belcolade’s suppliers have taken the necessary measures to avoid nut contamination.

Handling With Care

We import raw material directly from Belcolade, using a digital control system throughout the entire transportation process. The goods are hermetically sealed by the manufacturer, and we distribute them in their original packaging. Though carefully stored, we must advise our customers of the possibility that our products are stored near almond, hazelnut, or almond past pralines, in our warehouse or delivery trucks.

Please note that our nut-free guarantee is limited to our facilities. We are not responsible for nut contamination once the product has been sold.
